Ysgol Cymerau is proud to be part of the Active Travel programme delivered by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust Cymru, promoting healthy, sustainable and safe ways of travelling to school and within our local community.

We are currently working towards achieving the Active Travel Gold Award, further strengthening our commitment to making walking, wheeling and cycling a natural part of everyday life. As a school, we take active travel seriously and provide a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to develop their skills, confidence and independence.

Throughout the year, we organise regular bike buses, cycling trips and cycling lessons, encouraging children to enjoy the benefits of being physically active while learning valuable life skills.

Our vision is that every child who leaves Ysgol Cymerau will be able to ride a bicycle confidently, safely and independently on the road. We believe these skills help to improve health and wellbeing, build confidence and independence, and prepare our pupils for the future.

By working together as a school, with families and the wider community, we are helping to create a generation that chooses healthier and more sustainable ways to travel.

With all the cycling that has been taking place at the school over the last few weeks, the Active Travel committee has prepared a video to remind us how to wear a helmet correctly.
